Thanks for posting your review of the movie. I know this movie is a remake or spin off another film (I can't remember the title). J.J. Abrams is coming into his own as a filmmaker; perhaps, this genre is not his forte.

At least he is taking them on, so to speak, next is "Star Trek."

I was disappointed with Cloverfield. There were a few really good moments in the film, but all in all, I thought it was silly and contrived. Actually, the premise was a good one, but I think the story could have been told more creatively, and been more interesting if the silly loooong party opening was shorter and the girl with the rebar through her chest wasn't well enough to run like a superstar at the Olympics. Science Fiction should not ask us to completely suspend our disbelief-especially in a storyline that is too contrived to even remotely seem plausible.
