With the ‘80s now plundered, the geniuses at Hollywood are moving on to the ‘90s in an attempt to make more money out of the same old ideas. Variety reports that StudioCanal and Original Films are planning a remake of Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 mountain climbing action thriller Cliffhanger.
The original saw Stallone playing a climbing expert who is forced to help a group of hijackers recover three suitcases containing $100 million lost in the Rocky Mountains. It was a big hit at the time, grossing $255 million worldwide to generally positive reviews.
The remake will center on a group of young climbers. A screenwriter is currently being sought. They hope to start production next year.
