Archive for the 'Trailers' CategoryFrancis Ford Coppola’s ‘Tetro’ TrailerI love the black and white, grainy look of the film. The color ballet scenes are beautiful and add another dimension to the story. The actor who plays the younger brother looks like a very young DiCaprio. I love the music, I love the trailer. Tetro opens Cannes Director’s Fortnight and a limited release in the U.S. June 19th. |

Archive for the 'Trailers' CategoryThirst Trailer: A Hunger for Vampire FlicksVampire movies are all the bloody rage. Having seen a slumber for the past few years (possibly due to the awful Queen of the Damned, or Buffy and Angel overdosing us), the genre of sunlight-intolerant bloodsuckers is seeing a resurgence in the last year or so. The key player is Twilight, which transposes notions of abstainance upon a figure that traditionally represented a fear of sexuality, and its sequels are already confirmed. A remake of the Manga film Blood: The Last Vampire is in production. HBO series True Blood got great reviews and a commendable portion of the audience. Outside of the US the Norwegian film Let the Right One In received much acclaim and is already set to see a Hollywood remake. And now Korea is in on the resurgence. Park Chan Wook is best known for the inventive and excellent thriller Old Boy, not to mention the other two parts of his Vengeance Trilogy. After making the minor I’m A Cyborg… the director is back on track with Thirst. It’s the atmospheric tale of a priest who gets turned into some sort of vampire creature as part of a botched experiment. The best vampire films are the ones who use it as a metaphor for some social or personal malaise. And this film seems to use the vampire figure to represent repressed religious feelings or a sense of doubt. The trailer is in Korean, but the visuals are strong enough to make Thirst seem like an intriguing tale. Thirst will appear in this month’s Cannes Film Festival, and should see a worldwide release later in the year. |

Archive for the 'Trailers' Category‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ Movie TrailerThis trailer is definitely a great energizer. It came my way early this morning and it’s better than a strong cup of joe. Any of you G.I. Joe fans of yesterday year get ready for a whole new game set. This is not little plastic army men battling in your living room or backyard bunker. This is CGI to the ultimate acceleration of who has the biggest rocket bomb, the Eiffel Tower is destroyed, with secret U.S. military personnel in Delta 6 Accelerator suits doing the Matrix dance. I want my own Delta 6 Accelerator suit! |

Archive for the 'Trailers' Category‘Transformers 2′ Movie Trailer Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen just release a new trailer in the movie theaters. I like this trailer because it shows the story, which appears much better than the last Transformers movie. There’s the International stage and theory of the pyramids. I like Kevin Dunn who plays Shia’s dad. I worked with him once on a Joe Dante film, he was great in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and he is a true professional. |
