Twitch found this trailer at Apple and brought it to my attention. It’s worth a look and has an interesting premise. I am not sure if LOVE is just a flow of consciousness or a steady take on the horrific situation an astronaut is confronted with — his space station has become stranded. He’s lost in orbit and slowly the life support system of the space stations dwindles down as he loses his sanity. I dig the music by Angels and Airwaves.

Well…here we go. Rumors about the next Transformers movie have emerged, and anything short of Michael Bay actually putting a proton cannon in his own mouth and tabbing the firing stud will be something of a disappointment.
But you’ve got to admit, the guy has made thinking big into an art form. Long term Trans fans may not be wondering, but everyone else might wonder what’s next? The answer may already have been given away via the Transformers 2 DVD, found on an Easter egg.
Here, let’s have some fun. Guess the new secret huge feature for Transformers 3!
A. For some reason, QUINTESSONS! Finally!
B. Megatron will finally make the big move to Galvatron.
C. Out of nowhere, UNICRON!!
The answer, of course, is C. Michael Bay must have some kind of mental disorder in which he must do everything bigger and louder than he did it before, and when he can no longer do bigger and louder, he must move on to something else.
Although I did enjoy Unicron, I’d still personally love to see those fabulously schizophrenic Quintessons get a piece of the action somewhere. Why, I might even look forward to a Michael Bay movie if that were so!
You know, folks, I’m not sure how this chunklet of news eluded me for as long as it did, but I’m glad I finally managed to catch up with it. I know, I know, I only just covered the movie itself like a week ago, I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, but the fact remains that Paranormal Activity has at least three alternate endings.
And if you’ll follow the link here, you’ll be able to see this alternate ending for yourself. You’ll probably discover, much the same way I did, that it’s a good thing they went with the ending they did as it’s much, much more interesting.
Though I wonder…was it? Was it for the best? After all, Paranormal Activity was a good movie in and of itself. If the ending hadn’t been quite so satisfying, and they released the “alternate”, significantly BETTER, ending later, wouldn’t that just have sparked interest further?
Well, that’s neither here nor there as Paranormal Activity was a great movie with a fantastic ending as it was.
In Contention brought this clip of Gabourey Sidibe on “Ellen” to my attention. What a great interview that shows the difference between a character and the real person who plays that character on the silver screen.
More previous work of the late Heath Ledger is surfacing once again. Screenhead introduced Ledger’s King Rat, an animated short, some time ago.
Now, Cause and Effect has surfaced in the news today.
Ledger was known for saying “Talent begets Talent.” The Godfather of Australasian Hip Hop – Nfamas of 1200 Techniques – made a decision to go out on his own as No Fixed Abode. He approached his childhood friend, the late Heath Ledger, to direct his first music video.
Ledger loved to immense himself in music, and reportedly he believed in Nfa’s talent and ability to become a Hip Hop star on his own. Together, with Ledger as director, they created Nfa’s first music video Cause and Effect. Clearly we can see Ledger’s talent as an artistic director and the potential future he had as a director. The ability Ledger had to boldly embody the No Fixed Abode fundamental spirit, is very clear in this extraordinary music video.
It’s sad to lose such talent as Ledger, but at least we have the spirit of his work today that will live forever.

Brian E. (20) is the luck winner!!! This is a great movie that we will hear about while the award programs begin formulating toward the end of the year.
Two people I know rave about An Education, a Lone Sherfig ’s film. They saw the movie last June and still talk about how it gets them thinking more and more about the two main characters Jenny and David played brilliantly by Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard
. Thus, I am drawn into the film as well and have done a couple of posts about the movie.
An Education won two awards at the Cannes Film Festival
2009: Audience Award, World Cinema Dramatic Competition and Cinematography Award, World Cinema Dramatic Competition.
My friends strongly believe that both actors will be apart of the Oscar
conversations that start rolling out about now. One even believes SAG will give the movie an Ensemble Cast nod.
All in all, it is a movie worth seeing if it comes to your town. It opens on a limited release October 18, 2009.
First Showing found a gem of an independent film called That Evening Sun starring Hal Holbrook and Mia Wasikowaska (Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland).
The story is about an aging Tennessee farmer named Abner Meecham (Holbrook) who returns to his homestead and discovers a family betrayal that he must face, then there is a reappearance of an old enemy, and the potential loss of his beloved farm.
The movie will have a very limited opening on November 13, 2009.
Low-budget awesome, but still awesome.
And you’ll be amazed how the criminal element in the supposedly gun-free country manages to get their hands on literally all kinds of armament, up to and including an Uzi.
Ten Dead Men deals with Ryan, the mostly mute former henchman of a criminal syndicate. Ryan is the syndicate’s gifted assassin who, one day, decides he’s going to pack it in for the simple life as the male half of a young couple. Dinner parties, white sheets, occasional vacations in the sun…these things seem pretty ideal for Ryan until one day he helps an old friend…who’s double crossed the syndicate.
Directly after, the syndicate then killed Ryan’s lovely young girlfriend, and very nearly Ryan too. So now Ryan has to set out to get his revenge on the ten men who took his life away. Ten men had to pay…and when you find out what happens to them, you’ll be amazed.
Despite the fact that Ten Dead Men is extremely low budget, possibly owing to the fact that they got Doug Bradley–Pinhead himself–to serve as the film’s narrator, you’re going to find that Ten Dead Men has a great many satisfying twists involved with it. In fact, the greatest secret of all is the identity of the tenth person on Ryan’s murder list. I won’t tell you who it is, but I will tell you that it’ll be just plain old amazing.
And plain old amazing is an excellent descriptor. I usually enjoy British gangster films–they have a certain charm to them that you can’t get anywhere else. They have the violence and action you expect, but they also bring in some comic relief, too–plus the occasional surprise or two.
The Screenhead Ten Scale gives Ten Dead Men a high-grade nine out of ten. If they’d had a proper budget, chances are this would blow Snatch out of the WATER. It’s an excellent piece that’ll hold your interest all the way through, and any action buff will love having it in their library.
