Another Graphic Novel Turned Movie in the Works?August 7th, 2007 in Movie News, Sci-Fi, Thriller |
Variety reported earlier today that Gianni Nunnari (300) and Nick Wechsler have optioned the screen rights to the graphic novel Ocean by Warren Ellis, which means yet another graphic novel will soon be remade on the big screen.
The graphic novel is an interesting sci-fi/fantasy tale featuring thousands of coffins with angelic bodies and giant weapon of mass destruction that are discovered on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. A United Nations weapons inspector is thus sent to investigate the findings on Europa, but instead finds an unknown secret about the history of humanity.
Just how much the film will borrow from the graphic novel remains to be seen, but it is reported that the novel will serve as a template for a big budget alien thriller. Big budgets mean big advertising, so as soon as they begin work on this, we’re sure to start hearing about it in a big way.
