Anna Faris, the girl who has starred in nearly every cheesy, slap-happy comedy that’s been launched on the world, including the Scary Movie series, is going to try her hand at a role that isn’t the slightest bit funny.  Have the aliens taken over her body?  Or is she finally trying to bust out of being typecast as the funny girl? Whatever the case, Ms. Faris will soon be gearing up to play Linda Lovelace, the star of the upcoming Deep Throat biopic called Inferno.

Deep Throat for those of you who don’t know was a pop culture phenomenon porn flick that had stars like Jack Nicholson and Johnny Carson lining up to attend showings.  It was 1972  and porn became cool, and since its release many years ago, the movie has grossed more than $600 million worldwide.  Porn star Linda Lovelace became a household name after her starring performance in Deep Throat.

However, following the massive success of Deep Throat, Linda Lovelace went through a transformation.  She became an anti-porn crusader, lived in poverty, and claimed that she had a gun held to her head off camera in the infamous “Throat” scenes.  Lovelace blamed the experience mostly on her husband/manager Chuck Traynor. Lovelace died in 2002 after a car accident and weeks of being on life support.

Anna Faris brought the Inferno movie to the public spotlight when she began talking about what will be the most challenging role of her career.

“This would be incredibly intense. It would be the most difficult thing I’ve done, and I’m really nervous,” said Faris about the script.  She also goes on to describe Inferno as a “really deep, dark drama”.

Right now the film’s producers are on the hunt for someone to play Lovelace’s hubby, and are then hoping to get the film wrapped up before next summer’s possible strike. Faris is wrapping up shooting on another one of her funny films, but is also studying up and immersing herself in Lovelace’s history to prepare for the film.
