December 16th the American Film Institute honored the ten best movies of the year and the ten best television programs of the year.
The jury for these awards consists of media personalities, film and television producers and directors. Each category has its own jury.
The notables that stand out for movies: Sydney Pollack (director, producer, actor), Fred Pierson (writer, artistic director), Leonard Maltin (Entertainment Tonight) and Lawerance Kasdan (writer, director, producer).
Some of the television jurors that stand out: Melissa Gilbert (actress, director, producer), Matt Roush (TV Guide), Ron Underwood (writer, director, producer).
Each film or television program are submit by application which begins the process.

Interestingly on the movie end, ‘Ratatouille” made the list with “Into the Wild,” “Juno” and “No Country for Old Men.”
“The Sopranos,” “Pushing Daisies” and “30 Rock” caught my eye as the top ten for television programs.
