I confess openly that I’m a little freaked out by that which I’m about to tell you here.
Remember how, back in 2005, Micahel Bay’s Platinum Dunes outfit did that remake of Amityville Horror? The one with Ryan Reynolds that was actually pretty good and made a whole lot of bank? Oh, sure, it wasn’t as good as the original but remakes seldom are.
Anyway, I’ve got some word here that says that, this time, Dimension Films is plotting a remake of one of the greatest haunted house horror flicks of all time.
Of course, we’re all kind of confused about this, and the inevitable question is asked, why on earth would they plan to release a remake so soon after the LAST remake? And of course, the answer renders the question almost rhetorical. They’re doing it because it worked. Because the economy still looks like a slice of fried hell and Dimension is probably pretty hot to get some money makers out and they figure lightning can always strike twice when the box office is involved.
Still, I’m vaguely horrified by this, but curious at the same time. How will it turn out? Only time will tell.
