7th Annual Silver Lake Film Festival Starts ThursdayMay 1st, 2007 by Frank in Documentary, Festivals |
Los Angeles once again plays host to the Silver Lake Film Festival. The festival is geared toward independent films and we will clue you in on the big events of the wonderful event. Running from May 3rd-May 12th there are plenty of things to keep you occupied if you plan on visiting. Silver Lake Film Festival will screen more than 200 narrative and documentary features, short films, and videos. The festival will also feature a MP4Fest and MusicFest billed as “two festivals-within-the-festival”.
Opening the event is the Parker Posey/Jeff Goldman film “Fay Grim,” the latest film by director Hal Hartley. Another film getting ink is ‘Heart of the King’. Playing on Saturday night, ‘Heart of the King’ takes a look at the 36,000 Elvis Presley impersonators out there to ‘entertain’ us. “The driving force behind this film was to give an insight into these individuals and what made them give up their lives and other professions to live through a jumpsuit as Elvis Presley, even though they may not have the looks, talent or skills to make it as Elvis,” Shane Stuart , who along with Andrew Lankes wrote and directed the piece.
