30 Days of Night was one hardcore vampire movie – it had awesome vampires (unlike those vegans in Twilight), tons of blood and it captured the feeling of being trapped right down to the ‘t’. However, the film, despite its big opening, did not reach a $100 million gross at the box office, so the need for a sequel was not a top priority for the studio.
Author Steve Niles, however, sends word that a sequel is indeed in the works, but that it will go straight-to-DVD. Niles and Ben Ketai have worked on the script which has been submitted; it is based on the comic sequel Dark Days.
The story will follow Stella Olemaun (Melissa George in the first film) who moves to Los Angeles and purposely attracts the vampire communities’ attention in order to take revenge for her husband.
