1408, the gripping thriller starring John Cusack that took theaters by storm earlier this summer, will be released in a special two-disc collector’s edition version on October 2nd.

The film follows John Cusack who plays the role of a best-selling author that specializes in debunking paranormal incidents, such as hauntings.  His latest book takes him to the Dolphin Hotel in New York and the infamous room 1408, a room which has seen the death of 57 individuals since its opening.  Expecting this stay to be like all of us others, nothing more than a hoax, Cusack is shaken to the core when he finds that the terror of room 1408 is very real.

The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Mary McCormack, and was directed by Mikael Hafstrom.  Special features included on this collector’s edition set include an extended director’s cut with a surprising alternate ending, five deleted scenes, the theatrical version of the film, and collectible Dolphin Hotel postcards.
