Today marked the opening of the 10th installment of the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival. The biggest name from Hollywood to attend the event was actress Sharon Stone. The event will play host to 16 films and runs until June 24th. The 16 films, non of which hail from America and were selected from 895 entries, vie for the coveted Jin Jue Award (English translation: Golden Goblet). Film Director Chen Kaige and Luc Jacquet (March of the Penguins) will judge the event.

The event also includes lectures, screenings, and a marketplace for films.
