Damn it feels good to be a poindexter. First off, it's Pi day. Yes, they'll greeting card anything, and today (3/14 if you're using the same calendar as the rest of the west) is Pi day. Mathematicians Pictures.com will drop a large Pi at 1:59's both EST and PST. Tough shit, you people in the middle of the country-- you don't a get a Pi drop. You'll just have to put with wobbly, uneven circles of indeterminate size. Science is cold, and it doesn't love you.
Next here's a hot track commin at ya' all the way from Pompeii 79 AD! Evidently created when a bit of pottery was being carved with a stylus which acted sort of like a phonograph needle, capturing the ambient sounds from the room, including speaking and laughter! This is, of course, utter bullshit, and is an April Fool's joke based on Gregory Benford's book Time Shards. Wacky Belgians.

Finally, here's a video of The Hutchison-Effect, in which Canadian inventor John Hutchison is meant to have bend the fabric of whatever with his (flavin!) wires. Probably a hoax, but maybe not. The Wikipedia is interesting. While we're at it, here's John's recent appearance on Tech TV
