"Bassline Baseline is a video essay that investigates the invention, failure and subsequent resurrection of the mythic Roland TB-303 Bass Line music machine in the last two decades of the 20th century. "

Nothing like a good bassline, and here's the video to prove it.
BTW, in case you missed it, ReBrith is just being given away now.

Bassline Baseline [nkhstudio]

Also: Shake That Ass. Made even more popular on the Howard Stern Show since we saw it last. Not sure that's a 303 in there, but somehow, it fits.

We know we're a couple days late on this one, unlike our president we decided to enjoy those last two days of our vacation, but we're still getting tips for this, so evidently some of you haven't seen it yet.
Seriously, try to put all other judgements aside, and just watch this in a comedic timing sense, because Mike Myers just does not see Kanye coming. They're both performing at the Concert for Hurricane Relief, Mike gives his prewritten spiel a dead read already unbalanced by a rambling bit of outrage from Kanye, and then Kanye drops the "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" line, and Mike Myers could be knocked over by a gnat fart, and it's the greatest media moment since Moses showed up with the ten commandments

Breaking News: Kanye West: George Bush doesn't care about black people" [Crooks and Lairs ]

Crooks and Lairs is one stop shopping for these Katrina news bits in general.
Okay, here's the now extremely popular website of a man who got ahold of three and half pounds of solid sodium metal, and decided to toss it into some water just for the joy of watchn' stuff go boom, for science. That's "science" in the Andrew WK sense of the word.

"I'd read about, and heard stories about, throwing sodium into water. It's a classic thing chemistry students do in college, and based on the reports I have been able to find on the internet, they are often drunk at the time...I decided I should produce a comprehensive online reference on sodium dropping, with documentation on the size and shape of the chunks, how thrown, and most importantly with videos of the resulting explosions. To do this, I held a Sodium Party. People brought chips and soda and we had a cookout."

The story of a weblog that refuses to lose its dignity, that refuses to lose its pride, that refuses to forget who and what it is, and where it comes from. One of the more inspired things we've seen, the collage of tiny tracks at the end of They Might Be Giants's Apollo 18 album known as Fingertips get the Flash toon treatment from a variety of Albino Blacksheep animation artists. Nearly every meme-ish thing from recent memory shows up in the toons, including an unsettling amount of smirky Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie.
