History repeats itself

Strictly speaking we have the holiday off today, but La Theater Works' public radio live theater program The Play's The Thing seemed like a quality link for anyone else out there feeling a little patriotic irritation with the American government and their media shenanigans these days. The broadcast of Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, (an entertaining "docudrama" about The Washington Post's decision to publish The Pentagon Papers during the late 70s) is available for this week (in streaming real format). Originally released in the early 90s during the first Gulf war, you don't need to listen very long before you notice the exact same struggle of the media to get the truth of some-less-than honest war justification out past a very secretive and controlling administration that you're likely to run into today. Wonder if this sort of story will ever get the chance to seem dated.
