Stretch out a little if you’re new to it, it’s all for the low low price of free, thanks to the Creative Commons license. Includes a great Gilberto Gil track Máquina de ritmo.
“Staring at WFMU’s mouldering cassette library the other day, I noticed the Jimi Hendrix Spoken Word Tape for the very first time. There’s no information on it, other than the date (1997) and the person who compiled it (“Chad G”). If you listen to the 31 minute MP3, you’ll hear Hendrix dedicating songs from stage, bemoaning the constant pressure to play guitar with his teeth, reminiscing on his days in Harlem, rehearsing songs, and most importantly, wondering where the grass is at.”
This is not bad at all, and since the July 4th weekend kicks off for a lot of you today, we’ll toss in the obligatory yet undeniably cool clip of Jimi at Woodstock, including his Star Spangled Banner... probably still the prettiest “fuck you” to a government overstepping its bounds:
Tian tips us off to one of those ever wonderful corporate sing-songs, this one for processor maven Intel’s internal training in China. Imagine this thin slice of heaven coming at you over a cranky PA every hour on the hour:
Intel, Intel,
The place for you to be,
Intel, Intel,
The happy family…
One Tusk points us to “a commentary by the creators of Venture Bros., Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, where it has appeared as an exclusive download on Quickstop Entertainment. It’s for episode 1x07, Home Insecurity, and was dropped from the DVD set due to space restrictions and technical issues. MP3 download of 21+MB.”
Image above ganked from Douglas Lovelace’s site, an absolutely kickass showplace for his storyboard art and designs from some pretty fantastic projects, including the mighty Venture Bros.

Don’tCallThis.com has a novel idea: “This is just a simple experiment: Post a phone number on the web, and allow people to leave voice messages, which in turn can be downloaded off the website. Who will call, why will they call and what will they say?”
The reliably amusing Penn of Penn and Teller has a podcast, and on that podcast he has Teller locked in a dressing room. On Penn’s page, you can also listen on weekdays 2-3 for his radio stuff, which may or may not be the same thing as the podcast, we have to wait another 15 hours to find out.
The Reacharound Posse: a comedy podcast covering music, sports, and the internet from Gay-Z and Flesh Puppet, who we guess shop for net names in the same dollar store we do. As we write this 5 episodes are up, they seem to post pretty frequently.
Your big chance to hear mp3s of Anthrax’s Caught In A Mosh or Cradle of Filth’s Cthulhu Dawn as performed by that guy in the quad at your school with the Ovation who tried to get girls with very heartfelt renditions of Dave Matthews tunes, only, get this, they’re in French. And not just French, Fraaaaaannch French. “Beat me with this dwarf while feeding us both some stinky cheese” French. This site is either genius or some sort of misdirection to occupy us while the giant ants take over, or something.
The previously mentioned Ricky Gervais poscast snunk into existence while we weren’t looking last week. It is worth the wait.[Guardian]

Also, we’re suckers for not having to make a decision, Flash mongers Tubehead make it easy by corralling four classic means of trying to divine fate into a Flash toy. Flip a coin, swing a pendulum, shoot fingers or peel a flower. Simple but nicely done.
Here’s a collection of a Something Awful forum user’s remakes of pop songs using an NES’s audio system.
“Forums user kalocin started up a thread a little while ago asking people for songs that he would then cover using a synthesizer based on the classic Nintendo entertainment system’s psg audio system. So what we have for you now is 16 amazing NES-ified hit songs!”
What we learn here is that Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger remains the triumphant masterwork of our time, no mater what it’s played on.
NESCovers [Something Awful] Downlaod all the mp3 in a 67.8 MB glut.
Here’s an .MP3 of reversed Phantom Walt’s Twinpeaks speak from Lost. Turns out he’s saying “they’re coming and they’re close.” Makes a good bumper for your Rob Zombie music. From Lost fansite The Tail Section.
