Chris Landreth’s Ryan wins Oscar for Best Short Animated Film
In the short film category at the Oscars, Chris Landreth’s Ryan was the big winner.
Ryan is a biography short of Canadian animator Ryan Larkin, (himself Oscar nominated for Walking), now reduced to panhandling by drug addiction. In Ryan the interviewees are rendered in 3D ruins, a clever, emotionally resonant effect. The National Film Board of Canada has made the film available for viewing.
