Hellboy creator Mike Mignola's horror/sci-fi goof comic The Amazing Screw-On Head has been painstakingly crafted by loving artisans into an animated pilot for the Sci-Fi network. It's sort of a cross pollinated goof on the Wild Wild West and Heavy Metal wherein Abe Lincoln's top spy is a cyborg head. You can watch the whole animated pilot for free on their Pulse broadband site, and more importantly REVIEW THE SHOW WITH THE ONLINE SURVEY so that it might flourish. The show features Molly Shannon, Patton Oswalt and Paul Giamatti doing voice work.

The retro animation series from Daniel Brock Bogan, aka Waferbaby, who explains his toon thusly: "I've decided to release Pixhell in its entirely under a liberal CC license, and I've posted it on archive.org. For those just joining the waferparty, Pixhell was my crappy little retro animation series from days gone past. Each episode was painstakingly draw pixel by pixel in ResEdit (with a hacked, larger-than-32x32 CICN editor!). I'd take a screen-grab of that, dump each individual frame into GIFBuilder, adjust the pace and timing, convert the .gif to a Quicktime movie, pass that off to Kurt to add sound effects, and post it on the site. Sometimes? A two-week process, all up."

Jan Svankmajer's Food Trilogy

Jan Svankmajer is a highly influential Czech stop motion artist whose work you've seen echoed a lot in the Quay Brothers and Tim Burton. He did a nifty little trilogy centered around the gnashing of foodstuffs with broader themes of class oppression, although its more fun than we just made it sound:

Crazy Dolphins vs. The Mad Cows, Ian Stewart's 2004 animated short which was, and we're speculating here, written by giving raw sugar and LSD to children. Strictly speaking we don't condone such methods, but you can't argue with the result: a rough crayon-style animation in which we learn how the endtimes will probably go: crazy mammal Y crazy mammal.
